In today’s episode, Lisa talks about email marketing. It’s one aspect of eCommerce so many business owners don’t use to it’s full potential! This podcast reminds you to look deeper into your email marketing to see where you’re leaving money on the table.
Lisa talks about storytelling, the idea of the campaign, and what percentage of sales you should expect to earn through EDMs. Email marketing is a cost-effective way to maximize traffic and sell more to the same people who already buy your products and services. This is the core of Ecommerce, which Lisa shares with the listeners today.
The Power of EDMs and Storytelling
The goal here is to send a campaign up to three times a week. You don’t just email your list whenever you feel like it, whenever there’s a promo and whatnot. While a few people on your email list are always on the hunt for specials, the rest of your list is not. With periodic emails, they will soon get bored and leave.
Aim for a 50% open rate. If you’re already in the 20% open rate, then there are several opportunities to bump that up. Email marketing is not a sexy topic, but it’s necessary. Check your email marketing software now and see what the stats tell you. Klavio is one of the best email marketing tools. It’s affordable, easy, and integrates with many platforms, such as Shopify.
There are a whole bunch of topics that may resonate with your audience. Your task is to identify who your target audience is and what their pain points are and see the products that would address their pain points. Sometimes, it may not even be related to the products you sell. Let them know you see your target audience and understand where they’re coming from. You can outsource a writer for a blog you want to share, or it can be a staff member. So, sit down and plan out your storytelling emails and connect your product to the bottom of your emails. Have a small call-to-action with your emails. This approach will help increase your open rate.
Focus 30% of your email marketing on campaigns only. The rest of your focus should be on flows (the automation sequences such as your nurture sequence).
Go through your flows regularly or at least every three months. Go back to your sequences and see where you can do more.
So, improve your emails and make sure you are regular with them. Connect with your audience and implement the idea of storytelling and tracking your campaigns. Make it your goal to earn more from the traffic that comes to your website. Draw your audience in, engage with them, and connect with them.
