Women in e-commerce are used to doing it all – aside from our businesses, we’re often also taking care of the household chores and kids, working 9 to 5 jobs, and more. But us women are not good at one thing, and that’s putting ourselves high on the priority list. We fail in self-love.
This isn’t healthy for yourself or your business. The key here is to know your genius zone and prioritise those tasks in which you do best. This may be difficult at first, but it’s doable, and I’m going to teach you how.
Let’s get your genius on!
Stop picking up multiple things and putting the responsibility for all of them on your shoulders. Instead, find out the things that you are good at. If you need an indicator of what you’re good at, these are the tasks you immediately do when you get to work, and those tasks you enjoy doing.
On the other hand, the things that you’re not good at are the tasks that you ignore. These are the things that you need to take off your plate. If you keep doing them, you will get resentful and exhausted.
You need to focus on what you’re good at and what you like to do. This way, you will feel happy and fulfilled every time you show up for work.
Every business has a stack of processes and projects. Early on, you have to know what works and what doesn’t. Then, you need to build the process for them.
It’s understandable that you’re doing both the processes and projects in the early stages of the business. However, if you want to scale your brand you need to get rid of a lot of these processes so you can work ON your business, and not be constantly working IN it.
Processes are anything that happens repeatedly and regularly in your business. Your business will run well if the processes are correctly executed BUT these processes don’t help increase your sales.
Your goal is to focus on projects. Projects are things with start and end dates such as creating a website, hiring a marketing agency, getting new products live, and more. These are the things that help grow your brand.
Here’s a quick tip for figuring out your genius zone:
So, there you go. This is an easy exercise you can do to find your genius zone, and work out what you can outsource to someone else.
